Have You Checked Your Locks Recently?

The most important aspect of residential security is making sure that the systems that you have in place work properly. Have you ever been to someone’s home, seen a security alarm system but you walk right by it without triggering an alarm? Sure, they can disarm it. But, many people install security products and then neglect them.

If you are going to install a security product, make sure that it remains functional. If it stops working, get it fixed. How do you expect to be protected by something that is broken? It just won’t work. Before you decide on a security product, make sure you do some research. Figure out how much maintenance it needs. If you know that you have little time or interest in a high maintenance product, don’t get one that needs a lot of maintenance.

There are many products out there that need little to no maintenance but they will offer a lot of protection for your home. You just have to know what to look for. Many locksmiths offer free consultations too. Why don’t you give them a call to see if there is a specific product that they would recommend for your case?

When you get new locks installed, don’t make the mistake of thinking it ends there. Even though the locks may require little or no maintenance, you need to inspect them occasionally. This will save you the trouble of having broken locks without any idea that it was about to happen. Here a few things that you can do to keep your locks functioning well.
  1. Clean them from time to time
  2. Make sure they’re lubricated
  3. Don’t damage your keys
Once you do these three things, no matter how much wear and tear your locks get, they should last for the time intended by the manufacturers. So, how do you know when they are no longer effective? There are a few signs that you have to look out for.
  • There is a lot of rust on the lock
  • It is hard to insert or remove the key
  • The lock has a lot of physical damage
  • The locking mechanism is compromised in some other way
Secure Your Home Now!

Don’t ignore the signs! If your locks are going bad, get them changed. Don’t wait! The longer you delay getting new locks, the longer you remain vulnerable. If you are thinking about how much it will cost and worried that you can’t afford it, stop! We are sure that there is a locksmith in your area that is willing to work with you and provide affordable solutions to assist you. Isn’t your safety and peace of mind worth it?

The last thing you need is to begin experincing trouble with your ignition. Just because your key is stuck in the ignition doesn’t mean that it was because of something you did or didn’t do. Our locksmiths in Maricopa, Arizona, will take care of our customers by assuring them that we can fix the problem for them. You don’t have to have your car towed to an auto mechanic when we’re happy to come to your location to resolve the problem for you. They will come with the right tools to handle the job. However, if you have a damaged key, it is best to wait until we make you a new key before you use it. You are just asking for trouble if you use a faulty key. You might turn a small problem into a larger one.

Herewithin we have included some things that you should and should not do if you experience a problem with your key being stuck in the ignition:
  1. If your key is stuck in your ignition while the car is turned on:
Check the dashboard to see if you have it in the correct position. It should be in park. If it is in drive, it will not turn. This is a problem we see a lot, especially with new drivers. Next, gently wiggle the key so that it will easily slide out. Wiggling it too roughly might cause it to break off. This is why we caution you to gently wiggle the key. If you are still unable to lossen the key and get it out, give us a call instead of snatching out, causing a worse problem.

      2. If your key is stuck in the ignition while the car is turned off:

Again, check the position of your key. Make sure it is in the park position. Older cars experience this problem most often. They easily shift into the wrong gear. You can take the same steps as above, gently wiggle the key a little at a time to see if  the key will easily come outIn some cases this works but not every time. DO NOT SNATCH IT OUT!

     3. If your car battery is dead:

When the battery is dead, you will not be able to remove your care key. You will need to contact someone to provide you with a batter jump. This is actually one of the first things that you should consider doing, as it is usually the problem. Your dead battery preventing you from removing the key is to avoid your car from being stolen. It servces as an added security feature for many cars.
Many motorists make the mistake of contacting an auto mechanic to help remove their key. We want you to consider the amount of money and time wasted doing this. First, you may have to pay to have your car towed to the auto mechanic. Next, you’ll have to pay twice as much as you would pay a locksmith for the same service.

A locksmith will come to wherever you are, therefore you actually save money. Also consider that we save you money because we don’t have the same overhead fees. This means we’re able to pass along the savings to our customers. So what we would encouarge any motorist who’s key is stuck is to be patient and wait for our locksmith to come to your aid.

A locksmith will not simply react, they will make a thorough evaluation before they attempt anything. They understand that reacting too quickly can make the problem worse. Sometimes, something is stuck in the ignition that only a locksmith can remove because they have the right tools. They will be careful not to cause any damages to your ignition as they attempt to remove whatever is causing your key to become stuck.

If you’re contacting a locksmith service and they do not have automotive locksmiths, call another locksmith. This is because an automotive locksmith will be familiar with  this problem and they will be careful not to do anything that could make the problem worse. They also receive the proper training to effectivley handle your automotive ignition changes. Yes, an automotive locksmith is able to assist with your ignition change needs, if necessary. Only utilize the services of an automotive locksmith in Maricopa that is reputable and reliable. Check review websites to make this determination. You could call the only locksmith that comes to mind but they may not be the ones best suited for the job. Instead, rely on a locksmith with proven experience in this capacity. If you ned your ignition switch replaced, this can be an expensive process. However, to save money, you can rely on the services of an automotive locksmith who can usually perform the job for a fraction of the cost of an auto mechanic or dealership. A locksmith service is usually independently owned. They can’t afford to overcharge motorists because they want you to use their services again. They realize offering you affordable and effective services will surely bring you back.
